Students love using the IXL app, both in the classroom and at home! It’s tailor-made for tablets and phones to create an immersive learning experience that’s engaging and fun. And now, IXL’s iPad and iPhone apps have a refreshed look that makes everything IXL has to offer even easier to navigate!
Let’s take a tour of the updates:
iPhone app updates
Improved navigation
The navigation bar has two new pages, which will make it easier for students to focus on their assignments.
- Your teacher: Students can find suggested skills and any assigned quizzes from their teachers in this tab.
- Skill plans: This tab contains all skill plans that have been pinned by a teacher or parent.
iPad app updates
Streamlined navigation
New navigation bars at the top and bottom of the screen help students find exactly what they need more quickly.
- Practice: All skill practice is under the Practice tab. Students can find their recommendations wall, explore all skills, complete assignments from their teacher, and view pinned skill plans.
- Assessment: The Diagnostic Arena now lives in the Assessment tab.
- Quizzes: Students can navigate to this new tab to take their assigned quizzes.
- Awards: Learners can view all of their awards in this tab to celebrate their achievements.
Recommendations tab: View personalized recommendations
The Recommendations wall is now under the Practice tab, but as always, personalized skill recommendations will be the first thing learners see when they open the app. This helps them jump right into skills they’re ready to work on!
All skills tab: Easily explore skills
To explore all IXL skills, first, tap the Practice tab on the bottom bar. Then, tap “All skills” on the top bar.
When browsing all skills, it’s easy to dive into the specific subject and grade level you’re looking for using the new dropdown filters. Or, use the search bar at the top to find a particular skill.
From your teacher tab: Work on assignments
Under the “From your teacher” tab, students will see all the skills their teachers have suggested and any quizzes that have been assigned.
Skill plans tab: Easily access pinned skill plans
Skill plans that are pinned by teachers and parents are now easier to find, with their own dedicated tab! Simply tap the “Skill plans” tab from the Practice tab.
Assessment tab: Dive into the Diagnostic arena
From the Assessment tab, students can enter the Diagnostic arena at any time and answer questions to reveal their current knowledge levels. The app’s handwriting recognition feature allows students to write answers with their fingertips, no typing required.
Quizzes tab: Take quizzes on the iPad
Students can now complete IXL Quizzes on the iPad app by navigating to the Quizzes tab.
Note that Quizzes are only available for students on school memberships, and teachers cannot create quizzes on the app at this time.
Awards tab: Celebrate achievements with fun awards
Learners can see all of their math and English language arts awards directly on the app. With fun, app-only animations, it’s an easy and fun way to celebrate their accomplishments as they learn.
