Major releases
New units for Takeoff by IXL Math![™]()
We’ve released new Takeoff by IXL Math units in grades 2-5!
Takeoff by IXL Math provides everything 2nd-5th grade teachers need for their daily math instruction, personalized to meet the needs of each student, including:
- Detailed day-by-day lesson plans
- Differentiated support and enrichment resources
- Print and online learning activities
- Built-in unit assessments with personalized next steps
Unit 4 covers the following topic:
Unit 5 covers the following topics:
- Grade 2 Unit 5: Addition and subtraction problems within 100
- Grade 4 Unit 5: Factors, multiples, and patterns
- Grade 5 Unit 5: Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators

i-Ready Diagnostic test prep plans
IXL now has skill plans for the i-Ready Diagnostic! These skill plans make it easy to find the exact IXL skills that each student is ready to learn based on their i-Ready assessment scores. Skill plans are available for kindergarten through high school. Check out the new plans:

Skill plans for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 will be released soon.
Feature updates
New school-level reports
We’ve added our Skill Usage and Skill Proficiency reports to School Analytics! These reports clearly demonstrate how your students are tracking toward IXL’s research-backed goals to maximize learning.
- Skill Usage: Shows exactly how your students are using IXL, including how many questions they’ve answered and how much time they’ve spent practicing.
- Skill Proficiency: Shows how students are practicing, reaching proficiency, and mastering skills across your school.
With subject and date range filtering, easy-to-read visuals, and seamless export options, you can compare student practice data across your school and identify key trends in minutes. These reports are also available in District Analytics.

Quiz taking on Android and Kindle tablets
In addition to iPads, students can now take quizzes on Android and Kindle tablets! To find assigned quizzes, students can tap on the Quizzes button at the top of the Practice tab in the IXL app.

Tailored IXL game variations
We’ve made updates to our IXL learning games to be better tailored for each grade level!
IXL’s games include a wide range of content and gameplay options. To make it easier for younger students to work on content that’s appropriate for their grade level, we’ve added multiple variations of some games that better align to different levels of advancement. We’ve also preset the difficulty levels and game board sizes so that students can jump right into gameplay.

Skill plan updates and new skills
New math skills
We’ve released a few new math skills in grades 1-3:
- Word problems with both addends unknown – up to 20 (Grade 1)
- Sort addition facts – sums to 20 (Grade 1)
- Use strip models to solve multiplication word problems (Grade 3)
New social studies skill
We’ve released a new social studies skill for Kindergarten and grade 1:
- Introduction to timelines (Kindergarten)
- Introduction to timelines (Grade 1)
New textbook skill plans
We’ve added the new skill plans for following textbooks:
- Singapore Math Dimensions Math (Grades 6-8)
- Savvas enVision Mathematics 2024 (Algebra 1)
- Savvas Elevate Science (Kindergarten-Grade 1)
New state standards skill plans
We’ve released new skill plans for the following state standards:
- North Dakota Content Standards (Math and ELA, Kindergarten-Grade 12)
- North Carolina Standard Course of Study (Science, Kindergarten-Grade 8)
New test prep skill plans
We’ve released skill plans for Illinois’s end-of-grade assessments and the i-Ready Diagnostic:
- Illinois Assessment of Readiness (Math and ELA, Grades 3-8)

Additional releases
New video tutorials
We’ve released 20 new math videos to expand our coverage! This includes 11 new grade 2 videos, 2 new grade 3 videos, 2 new grade 5 videos, 1 new grade 7 video, and 4 new Algebra 2 videos. The videos in this release cover topics such as:
- Relating addition and subtraction sentences (Grade 2)
- Writing the probability distribution for a game of chance (Algebra 2)
We’ve also released 10 new phonics videos and 10 new middle school ELA videos to expand coverage in grades Pre-K through 3 and 6 through 8. These videos cover topics such as:
- Completing the silent e words (Grade 1)
- Reading graphic organizers (Grade 6)
Video tutorials are now available in grades 2 and 11 on the Canada edition! This initial release features over 220 videos in grade 2, covering about 75% of the skills, and over 220 videos in grade 11, covering about 95% of the skills. We now have videos for grades 2-11 in the Canada edition. We’ve also released 5 more videos for grades 6-7. These videos cover topics like:
- Skip-count by twos, fives and tens (Grade 2)
- Absolute value and opposites (Grade 11)
We’ve also added Spanish subtitles for 53 more videos. Like translated skills, translated subtitles are available to users with Spanish support enabled.
More math skills with Spanish support
We’ve expanded our Spanish-language support to include over a dozen new skills. These newly-supported skills include word problems involving data on graphs, understanding financial records, and comparing populations using measures of center and spread.
Easily find lessons and games in IXL’s search bar
Users are now able to search for lessons and games using the search bar on IXL! Now, in addition to skills and topics, users will get search results that include lessons for 3rd grade through Geometry math topics, as well as games for Pre-K through 5th grade math and ELA. This change helps users discover and utilize even more of the powerful resources IXL has to offer! Plus, new search filters make it easy to narrow down results to find the most relevant resources.
Lessons will be searchable on the US edition, and games will be searchable on all English speaking editions including US, CA, UK, and AU.
LaunchCard sign-in on all English editions
Users on all of our English editions can now sign in using LaunchCards! This quick and easy QR code sign-in method can be accessed by teachers, admins, and parents. LaunchCard sign-in is available on the web version of IXL as well as all of our mobile apps.
